Buller High Scientists Visit

Earlier in Term Two Buller High School students, led by their teacher Steve Dorey, visited our class to show us some amazing science experiments. What a wonderful learning opportunity was had by all Room 10 students and teacher.

Hawea Visit

Early in Term Two Room 10 visited the Hawea while the naval ship was in port for ANZAC celebrations.  After the visit the class wrote letters to Captain Norris and the officers who showed us around the ship. Captain Norris and Officer Sanjay wrote the children individual letters to answer the children's questions. What an amazing visit it was!

Latest photos

Hello! These last lot of photos were taken by Emma today. As we have been studying 3D shapes, and it being the last day today, I decided we would make 3D shapes with lollies and toothpicks. The toothpicks are the edges and the lollies are the corners. The children enjoyed this activity. Today they were given a checkup on 3D shapes. The results are excellent. In the pretest most children did not know their 3D shapes. Today they do. Well done Room 10.
Because some wall displays are coming down Emma took photos to show some of the things we have done this term.
Some of the class made wire sculptures when we were looking at the Commonwealth Games. They were interesting.
During our writing time we retold "The Story of New Zealand"- Te Ika a Maui", Aoraki's Canoe and Te Ara o Kiwa" and how it was formed in Maori legends. The wonderful art works of the three islands of New Zealand were drawn by our amazing, super cool teacher aide, Skye.
During reading time we made manu iti, little bird kites. We have flown them and the children loved the experience. We hoped to fly them again but this hasn't happened.
